n August of 2023, the Sheridan City Council, via a resolution, adopted the Sheridan Wastewater System Master Plan. The plan identified several top priority improvements to the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant which are necessary to ensure it will continue to meet the treatment needs and operate in a safe, efficient, and reliable manner long into the foreseeable future. The City Council, also in August of 2023, approved a resolution authorizing the submission of a Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) Loan application for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrades Project in the amount of $7.8 million, and in July 2024, fully executed loan documents were issued to the City.

City Utilities Director Dan Roberts says that following a meeting with the design engineer for the project on February 3rd, the need for an increase in funding was realized based on the plans and cost estimate.

Roberts said that staff will bring a resolution to the City Council for consideration to increase the loan for the project by $6.25 million. The increase in the loan is also contingent on the approval by the SLIB Board.

Here we go again, an increase of 6.25 million, added to the already 7.8 million fully executed loan documents, on hand, from July of 2024. 6.8 million dollar’s more, is almost double the first 7.8 million dollars loaned. We taxpayers are on the hook to pay these loans back, so my question to City Hall is “who the hell is running the show there?” Do we fault the City Utilities Director? Do we fault the project Engineer? Do we fault the City Administrator? Do we fault the current Mayor, City Council, who should be on top of this, but obviously not!? We fault each and everyone of the afore mentioned identities, for allowing the City of Sheridan’s Ship to simply float adrift. 6.25 million more? It’s time once again for the people of Sheridan, Wyoming, to start showing up,in person, before “your” public representatives, and holding them accountable for the mess they’ve created, via your Constitutional rights to express your grievances, before your government.
