Secretary Gray Calls on Wyoming Legislature to Protect Second Amendment Rights by Repealing Gun Free Zones

In his veto message to Secretary Gray issued March 22, 2024, Governor Mark Gordon stated that HB125/House Enrolled Act 49, erodes historic local control norms by giving sole authority to the Legislature to micromanage a constitutionally protected right. Any further clarification of the law, if this bill were enacted, would augment the Legislature’s reach into local firearms regulation. The bill exceeds the separation of powers embodied in Article 2 of the Wyoming Constitution, therefore it must be vetoed. The entire Governor’s veto message can be viewed here.
