Sheridan College Science Museum Lecture Series has announced a presentation hosted by Niall Clancy titled “The Ice Age Legacy of Western Fishes: How One Rodent Can Turn Back the Clock on Climate Change” will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday Dec. 4, in Room 201 of the Mars Ag Center on the Sheridan College campus.

This lecture is free and open to the public and will explore the history of freshwater fish distribution, the effects of climate change on cold-adapted species, and the vital role of beaver populations in creating refuge for these fish. Clancy will also share insights on past climates, current challenges, and conservation strategies to support native species in a warming world.

According to SC, Clancy is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Wyoming and holds degrees in fish and wildlife management and ecology. He collaborates with private, state, and federal partners to restore native fish populations in the Intermountain West.

Sheridan College is located at 1 Whitney Way in Sheridan. For more information about this event or other lectures, visit sheridan.edu/lecture or contact Dr. Scott Newbold at snewbold@sheridan.edu.
