Sheridan Media reporter Pat Blair looks back in time, over 100 years ago, to the impact of Spanish influenza as reported in the pages of the Sheridan Enterprise in 1918.

Two deaths from influenza were reported this morning as having occurred since yesterday’s report was given to the public.

It was announced today that more nurses are needed at the Red Cross emergency hospital to care for victims of the Spanish influenza.

Volunteer nurses at the emergency hospital this morning inaugurated what they hope will become an established custom in Sheridan as long as the epidemic prevails – the wearing of gauze masks in public.

School boys are taking the places of men in the Burlington shops who have been compelled to leave their work due to influenza.
