A request for approval of a project at Clear Creek Middle School in Buffalo was brought before the Johnson County School District #1 Board of Trustees this week.

According to the Consent Agenda from the board meeting, the Clear Creek Middle School Beautification Team wants to remove the sign on the front of the school and construct a memorial garden in its place.

The memorial would honor former home economics teacher Margo Gish.

Another reason given for the removal of the sign is the difficulty in changing lettering on it, especially during the winter months.

The team will be applying for a grant from the Johnson County Arts and Humanities Council for help in funding the project.

The school board approved the request as part of their consent agenda.
