Jo Co PHO: Later Peak of COVID-19 in Wyoming May be Beneficial

Although Wyoming has started to see more cases of COVID-19, it has come later here than in other areas of the country, and that means the peak of infections from the disease, and also the return to “normal” may be longer in coming to the state as well.
Johnson County Healthcare Center and the COVID-19 Emergency Operations Center held a joint media briefing Thursday where County Public Health Officer Dr. Mark Schueler was asked if the delay in the peak locally might help healthcare providers learn from other “hot spots” of the disease like New York and Seattle to help better care for patients here.
He believes it may be a benefit, and explains why.
So, although Wyoming may take longer to get back to normal than other parts of the country from the COVID-19 pandemic, in the long run it just may be better for local patients fighting the disease.
Over the weekend, Wyoming saw an increase of positive cases of COVID-19 to 261 laboratory-confirmed cases and 82 probable cases with the number in Johnson County increasing to 10 confirmed and 2 probable cases.
