Aaron PalmerResidents of the City of Buffalo and Johnson County are filling out and turning in their census materials at a rate greater than the rest of the state, and Buffalo Mayor Shane Schrader is not only pleased, but is encouraging everyone to continue to fill them out and send them in for the sake of everyone in the city and county.
In a release from the mayor Friday, he reported that Buffalo and Johnson County are starting off with some outstanding numbers, and are currently sitting in the number one spot for self-reporting in the entire state.
Mayor Schrader said, “I continue to encourage our residents to keep up this pace. Now more than ever we will need to have those federal dollars returning to Buffalo and Johnson County. These are dollars that are used for senior programs, school meals, roads, Public Safety, and well if there are federal dollars involved, it goes there too.
We have always, been the best, so let’s finish this off in the same place that we currently are in (number one).”
According to the mayor, as of April 3rd, Wyoming as a state has a 33.5% rate of returns for the census; Johnson County is at 45.4% and is the top reporting county; and Buffalo is at 54.6% and is the top reporting city in the state.
Also, the county has a 17.3% rate for those that have filled out the census packet online.
