Year-in-Review: Budget Disagreement

We begin our year-in-review with a look back at the top news stories from 2023 for Sheridan and Sheridan County. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
On June 19, the Sheridan City Council at their regular business meeting, adopted a resolution for the budget for the 2024 fiscal year. The budget that was approved was in the amount of $97,225,679. City Administrator Stu McRae addressed the City Council on why the amount was higher than what’s typically been budgeted.
The budget resolution passed by a vote of 5 to 2, with Councilors Andrew Patceg and Kristen Jennings voting against the resolution. Councilman Patceg.

The following is an exchange between Councilors Terry Weitzel and Patceg, where Weitzel posed a question about the budget being unconstitutional, followed by Weitzel’s question of City Attorney Brendon Kerns.
