Pat BlairNow here’s Sheridan Media’s look back in time, to 100 years ago, by reporter Pat Blair as published in the Sheridan Enterprise newspaper on March 24, 1920.
The Sheridan County Electric company has installed a very handsome Cutter light post on the Edelman corner. The post is equipped with a 400 candle power lamp, and post and light are very similar to those to be installed by the city during the summer.
Dietz No. 8 coal is $5.25 per ton at Merchants Transfer & Storage Co. Phone 65.
Mrs. Otto Becker was the honored guest at a farewell party given yesterday afternoon by Mrs. Joseph Smith.
Public meetings will be held at the Orpheum theater each day next week as part of the observance of Holy Week in Sheridan.

The purchasing power of a dollar in 1920 was about $12.80 in today’s dollars. So coal at $5.25 per ton converts to about $67.20 in today’s dollars. Anybody know what the price of a ton of coal is currently?
