News ReleaseIt was an exciting weekend as the Hawks went for home ice victory two nights in a row versus the Yellowstone Quake!
On Friday evening Sheridan defenseman McCaffrey Billings started off the scoring with a first period goal, assisted by Bowen Lopez and Ayden Attungana. The Quake answered back within a minute with an unassisted short handed goal by Carter Tymchak.
In the second period the Hawks soared ahead with four goals versus Yellowstone’s one to put them up 5-2 over the visiting Quake. Daniil Viscu scored first at two minutes into the period with assists by Elijah White and Sean Harris, followed by Elijah White, with assists by Gavin Langham and Danny Shelden. The Quake attempted to regain lost ground with a goal by Colling Goodman, but the Hawks responded with two more potted pucks before the end of the period, both from Tanner Freed, one assisted by Attungana and Calb Murray, and the other assisted by Kiefer Dunham and White.
The third period was a heart pounding back and forth contest that ended with no additional goals.
Both teams’ net minders had great evenings with Aidan Knox making 27 saves in the win, and Ben Delisi 41 saves in the loss.
Saturday night saw the teams ready to battle for the weekend again and remained close to near the end despite the Quake being heavily outshot by Sheridan.
In the first period the Hawks struck first with a power play goal by Freed, assisted by Billings and Murray. It looked like the Hawks would end the period ahead but then the Yellowstone Quake scored their own power play goal with just 45 seconds on the clock by Austin Blackner, making the score 1-1 going into the first intermission.
The second period showed both teams staying right in there together. The Quake’s Leo Carter scored a goal midway into the period to put the Quake up 2-1. The Hawks didn’t stay down for long though before putting an answering point on the board Viscu, assisted by Lopez and Harris, evening the score at 2-2.
In the third, it was all the Hawks as they came roaring into the final period with three goals in under a minute to kick it off. The first was by Billings, with assists from Attungana and Murray, with a quick follow up goal by White, assisted by White and Vlad Zubriichuk, and then one more in rapid succession from Shelden, also assisted by White and Zubriichuk. The Hawks finished it off with a goal by White, with help from Freed and Dunham to bring the final score to 6-2. Tyler Ouren saved 27 shots for the win, while Owen Reeve saved 70 shots in the loss.
Next weekend Sheridan takes on the Badlands Sabres at home. Friday night is the Hawk’s annual Holiday Food Bank Friday! Free admission with a gift of a nonperishable food item valued at $10 or more to be donated to the People Assistance Food Bank.
