National Manufacturing Day was held this past Friday with an impressive turnout of residents and visitors taking advantage of the day to gain a sneak peak behind the curtain of some of Sheridan’s manufacturers.
While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Officer Dixie Jonhson said this past Manufacturing Day was a success as many in the community took the time to visit manufacturers who were kind enough to take part in this year’s activities.
Held annually on the first Friday in October, Manufacturing Day is a nationally recognized day that allows students, parents, and the public at large an opportunity to tour the buildings of many local manufacturers in the Sheridan area and learn just how they produce products of all kinds.
The opportunities for skilled workers in Sheridan is greater than many areas in Wyoming as Sheridan ranks No. 2 in the Cowboy State for the number of manufacturing firms in operation. According to the Chamber, these firms employ nearly 1,000 residents in 121 different companies.
