Today, the Wyoming Senate Delegation of U.S. Senators John Barrasso and Cynthia Lummis, voiced their frustrations with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM)’s Rock Springs Draft Resource Management Plan (RPM), released earlier today.

According to a release from the senators, within the RPM, the BLM stated that over 1.8 million acres of land in Wyoming, managed by the Rock Springs Field Office, would be given special designation as Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACECs).

“The Biden administration continues to attack our Wyoming way of life. The latest hit job from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) aims to take control of 1.8 million acres of land in Wyoming. This blatant land grab completely dismisses practical solutions proposed by local land managers, local agencies and the people who live and work on this land,” Senator Barrasso said. “I encourage everyone to make your voice heard through the public comment period. There is still time for us to force the BLM to turn this outrageous proposal around and strike a balanced approach that puts Wyoming, not Washington, in the driver’s seat.”

“The Biden administration’s proposal to lock up even more federal lands willfully ignores more than a decade of thoughtful systems designed by local experts and Wyoming-based stakeholders at our state’s expense,” Senator Lummis said. “While I am not surprised by this misguided decision, I am disappointed this administration is prioritizing unnecessary red tape over well-designed policies established by our experts on the ground.”

The BLM has opened a 90-day public comment period, closing on Nov. 16, 2023.

I think Barrasso and Lummis are mostly unhappy because they won’t be able to deliver public land and resources into the hands of their moneyed backers. They may be held responsible for flubbing the GOP’s plans for redistributing public lands into private hands. Feckless pols . . . sounding like they stand for something more than being servants to the privileged rich and powerful. Ha.

Maybe we should just reclaim our land in Yellowstone Park. It was once part of Wyoming and we can do a much better job of managing it than the fedgov every will.

Technically speaking there is no land grab here, The US government already owns the land.

The U.S. Constitution only authorizes the federal gov’t to own the 10 square miles known as the District of Columbia and forts/bases as needed for federal military troops.
The land in Wyoming (or most other states) is neither and so is not legally owned by the fedgov. Maybe it’s time to re-claim what is ours.

reply to Dennis Fox…How do you propose the people of Wyoming (Wyoming State Government) “reclaim” full ownership and management of federal land?

Simply have our chief exec. (our governor) issue an executive order, then do a photo op in front of the Wyoming land we are re-claiming. Since our claim to the land pre-dates even the existence of the blm…it belongs to us, not the fedgov. The people living here in Wyoming will do a far better job managing our land, than some gov’t pog in d.c. Besides, what are they gonna do? Dig up the dirt and take it to Washington to “manage.” Good luck with that.

will not work…federal law governs state law…especially when federal and state laws conflict…The Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution establishes that state laws are subordinate to federal laws and regulations

Some have incorrectly mis-interpreted the Constitution that way. Did the federal gov’t “create” the states or did the States create the federal gov’t? Exactly. The fedgov was formed by the States and is, in fact, subordinate to the States. The “created” entity (the federal gov’t) is always inferior to and the subordinate of the Creators, i.e. the States. Analogy: Do we “rule” over our Creator? Or does He “rule” over us? Exactly! And claiming something is “settled law” does not make it so.

dude…the unites states supreme court has ruled time and time again that the federal constitution and federal law take precedence over state laws and state constitutions it’s the law of the land

The “law of the land” is the US Constitution and nothing that 9 lawyers in robes publishes, changes that. There’s nothing in the constitution that allows a federal agency of non-elected civil servants, to take control of a State’s sovereign territory. That some have been mal-educated (in centrally-controlled gov’t schools) into believing a falsehood, is sad, but also a separate issue.
Wyoming land belongs to the people of Wyoming… not the administrative, deep- state.

Yes and in America, the real “authority” is always, We the People. And we will win out, in the end. Authoritarian control can only be imposed by force. And top-down, centralized control is always dependent on a willing minority, paid to impose that force. And a compliant majority willing to over-look and accept the status quo. The majority have always had the real power in America, and the authoritarian minority can only remain in power; as long as we allow. The day when the Majority of Americans have “had it” with the corruption, lying, stealing and cheating….approaches. Steal ’24 and ….

Your last statement …”The day when the Majority of Americans have “had it” with the corruption, lying, stealing and cheating….approaches. Steal ’24 and ….” Mr Fox you make highly politically charged statements. You seem to be promoting a theory of a stolen election that has already been proven false…the bible says much about those who make false statements and to be vigilant of such people that attempt to lead others astray with their false statements “beware of false prophets who come in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves”….you conclude with “Steal ’24 and ….” which leaves everyone to draw their own conclusions as to your true meaning. That statement can be interpreted as promoting “violence” “upheaval” or “civil war” You should be more transparent with your wording and true meaning so as not to lead people astray from peace, harmony and Christianity in humanity
