The 2023 Sod Farm Festival will begin at 3 p.m. on Aug. 19 at the Green Side Up sod farm on Big Goose Road.

While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, co-founder of the Foster Parent Exchange, Carla Crayton informed the public of the festival’s history and the changes that have taken place since the last celebration.

Gates will open at 2 p.m. With so many local performers joining the line-up the festival will feature over seven hours of live music featuring 20 different performances. With a few minutes to exit the stage and a minute to get onstage and start playing, this format gives the audience a non-stop musical experience, unique among music festivals.

Vendors will be present with food and beverages. Tickets are $30 at the event and $25 if purchased beforehand and can be purchased online by clicking here. Kids 12 and under are free.

Crayton’s organization the Foster Parent Exchange is one of the beneficiaries of the festival this year. Crayton and her small team provide necessities to children who in far too many cases, had to be removed from dangerous home situations with either very little or no time to pack clothes and hygiene products for basic needs. If the child comes from a home where dangerous drugs are present, they are not allowed to bring any clothes, toys or essential needs with them from their home at all.

The local department of Family Services works with the Foster Parent Exchange to ensure that no child has to leave their childhood behind in a foster situation.
