The 2023 Sheridan County Youth Market Livestock sale took place at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds on Monday, August 7th which saw a record-breaking year. In total, there were 232 lots sold with the gross sale accumulating to $733,636.25.
The evening started out at 4:00 pm with the buyer’s dinner that took place in the exhibit hall where all the participants of the sale were fed for free. The Sheridan County Cattlewomen’s Association was one of the groups that helped organize the buyer’s dinner. Christie Robinson, a member of the association, spoke about the dinner and some of the donors.

Robinson also went on to thank Perkins, Pepsi, Water Products and Solutions, and all of the other donors that helped make this dinner happen.
The livestock sale started at 5:30 pm with the opening ceremonies. Stewart Kincaid, superintendent of the sale committee, explained how livestock is judged and how that leads to livestock placement in the sale itself.

Kincaid also mentioned how the criteria has been adjusted recently to help the students become more informed on the process of livestock sales.

The 2023 Youth Livestock Sale was a huge success and a big part of that is due to the enormous roles and preparation made by the organizers and donors who make this possible. We can only hope to see more record-breaking sales in the years to come.
