Recreation of Van Gogh’s Starry Night at Fulmer Public Library

On Thursday, July 6th the Sheridan Public Library hosted an event that allowed participants to try and replicate a rendition of Van Gogh’s famous painting, Starry Night. The event occurred from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and was orchestrated and instructed by the library’s Programming Coordinator, Denise Gillenwater. Gillenwater encouraged the painters to make it their own and not limit their creation to a mere replica but expand upon the concept of the original.

While painting, Gillenwater mentioned her passion for painting and what she hopes to achieve from these events. “One of my goals is to make art a little more accessible for everybody and less intimidating because it should be fun.”
Gillenwater is eager to organize more events such as these and is open to hearing the public’s opinion about potential ideas. She can be contacted via email at dgillenwater@sheridanwyolibrary.org. For information on upcoming events that the library has planned visit here.
