Budget Amendment Deals with UW Health Plans and Elective Abortions

With over 100 amendments presented during their time working on the bill, the Wyoming House of Representatives has approved their version of the state budget legislation on 3rd reading. Local Representative Mark Kinner explained how he felt about House Bill 1.
One amendment that was adopted in both the House and the Senate mandates that the University of Wyoming can not use any funds under their control to expend on elective abortions for students or group health insurance that provides coverage for elective abortions except under the circumstances described in state statute. Representative Kinner voted in favor of adopting the amendment.
All of the members of the local legislative delegation voted in favor of the amendments in their respective bodies. To view the House Budget measure and the aforementioned amendment, follow the links below.

One thing the legislators never seem to address is the fact that Wyoming retired employees haven’t had a COLA for going on 12 years. Makes a person feel that while working for the State of Wyoming employees are wonderful, yet upon retirement it’s more like “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out”. Almost like forgotten folks upon retirement!
