The House Select Committee investigating the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol held a primetime hearing Thursday night. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

Primetime Hearing

The hearing focused on what former President Donald Trump was doing during the 187 minutes between when his speech ended at the rally on January 6 and when he posted a video on Twitter asking the rioters at the Capitol to leave and go home. Congresswoman Liz Cheney, (R-WY) Vice-Chair of the Select Committee, during closing remarks of the hearing, said the committee has shown testimony from dozens of Republican witnesses – those who served Trump loyally for years.

Cheney talked about how Trump used patriotism to get what he wanted from his followers.

Cheney closed her remarks by summing up what the committee presented in the primetime hearing.

The hearing was the eighth public hearing the January 6 Committee has held since early June. More public hearings are anticipated to be held in the future.

Everything about this soviet show trial is unconstitutional. This should be heard in the house judiciary committee where it belongs. Cheney should be ashamed of herself.

Gee, Liz. On the one hand, you repeat ad nauseam your claim to be involved in this effort to “defend the Constitution” and the implication that you’ve been making is that Donald Trump has somehow committed some criminal offense by “violating his oath of office.” You quip that Bill Barr and some others would likely not “wilt under cross examination.” Hardly the point. What you’re doing is in violation of the Confrontation Clause of the 6th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. We can’t KNOW how they would handle cross examination because your kangaroo court “committee” won’t PERMIT your “witnesses” from being cross examined! By the way, since you’re such a defender of the Constitution, have you forgotten what they taught you in law school about due process? How about the dozens of people held without bail on misdemeanor charges in D.C. jails for the insidious crime of trespassing on the Capitol grounds on Jan 6th? Sorry, Liz, but your clear intent to prevent Mr. Trump “from ever serving in a position of public trust again” belies your “concern” for the U.S. Constitution. This is a personal vendetta in which you have willingly agreed to participate in. Nice try, but your vengeful spite is showing more each time you speak.

    What this actually is…

Show Trial–a trial organized by a government in order to have an effect on public opinion and not in order to find the truth.

…to me the most intriguing aspects of January 6th are not political…the most intriguing aspect is understanding how a group of citizens were able to breach the United States capitol grounds and mount an assault upon our government leaders similar in fashion to what occurred on July 14, 1789 (Bastille Day) in France…
