Elk Fire Update for Saturday: 10-12-24
Saturday, 8:00am 10-12-24
Per the US Forest Service Overnight, firefighters stayed busy working to contain a spot fire on the northern front of the Elk Fire. Terrain and vegetation changes in the southeast presented some challenges to overnight firing operations, but they were able to create more blackline as they work to bring line down to meet with Red Grade Road.
Since the fire is moving south, we know there are some new folks who might just being seeing this the first time – a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) is in effect around the #ElkFire. Please do not fly drones or unauthorized aircraft in the area as they are a danger to firefighting aerial operations. Remember, if you fly, we can’t!
As a side note, they have had ZERO incursions into the temporary flight restriction zone! Let’s keep it that way.
