Ron RichterThe Sheridan City Council at a special meeting on November 18, selected Travis Koltiska as the new chief of police for the Sheridan Police Department. Monday night, it became official, as Chief Koltiska was officially sworn-in as chief of police. Chief Koltiska addressed the Council by saying that he was grateful for the opportunity to lead the department forward in the future.
Council also received a City Council orientation update from City Administrator Stu McRae on the orientation for the new councilors that will take place this Saturday at City Hall. Council approved the designation of $375,000 of fiscal year 2020 general fund surplus as assigned fund balance for the future purchase of ERP software. We’ll have more from the Council meeting in future stories.

Nice to see a local boy get the position but must say he came out in an extremely marginal decision : to hire a consulting firm to examine Sheridan and provide information on what the Police Department needs to focus on in our community. Really? Why don’t you start out with “Protect and Serve” her citizens. There, that is my consulting conclusion, enclosed please find invoice in the amount of $50,000. Cash or cashiers check only.
