Museum at the Bighorns Director Carrie Edinger and Operations Manager Chip King made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to discuss the progress at the new location in the historic Woolworth building at 171 North Main.

King said the storage area has been filled with the 30,000 plus items in the museum’s collection. The basement of the building is slowly transforming into a space the museum can use but construction has yet to begin.

Edinger discussed the future plans of the exhibit space and the displays that will be priorities. The Museum at the Bighorns staff also wish to use some of the space as a setting for public discussions and possible future presentations on local history.

King said the board is scheduled to hold a meeting. The goal is to discuss proposals with local contractors to begin construction. If proposals are within the expected cost and a contractor is selected, the lobby section of the new location may be open as soon as June 1.
