Last Weekend’s “Ashes to the Table” Community Dinner and Dance in Buffalo raised over $59,000 as of the count on Monday, but organizers are still counting other donations.

Co-organizer Ashlea Bassett tells us more.

Bassett said those affected by the fires can still apply for help through the regular channels, but this fundraiser is to get funds to them now.

Bassett added that the event was a chance for the ranchers and the community to get together and not stress, but just enjoy a meal and camaraderie while raising money for fire relief.

That’s the communities we live in. That is why we live where we do. The support have seen after the Remington Fire SE MT and Elk Fire is absolutely amazing and humbling. We live bit north of Buffalo at the state line. Parkman put on a benefit last weekend and went to the Remington Fire Relief project over a month ago. Our local communities come together and help those in need. There was a lot of “Hill Billy” hot shot crews ranchers on private rigs backed Federal crews saved so much. Distressed people east of us are still in dire straights waiting for Federal aid. So sad. Where we live…people toe the line…help neighbors and even those they don’t know.
