Buffalo Council Approves Callen to Lodging Tax Board

The Buffalo City Council, during their meeting Tuesday evening, voted to approve Mayor Shane Schrader’s recommendation for the appointment of Mike Callen to an unexpired term on the Lodging Tax Joint Powers Board.

According to a Google search, lodging tax boards use the funds collected to support tourism and the local economy.

Through the efforts of the Johnson County Tourism Association, there will be a ballot initiative placed on the November General Election ballot that will allow voters in Johnson County to decide if the county-wide Lodging Tax should be increased by 2% from its current 5% level to reach a 7% rate.
