Ron RichterThe City of Sheridan may soon have an ordinance on the books pertaining to the use of tobacco and vaping by minors. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
The City of Sheridan does not have an ordinance that prohibits tobacco or electronic cigarettes within the City, as the possession of tobacco by minors is controlled by State Statute. The City Council may soon be considering an ordinance that would bring Municipal Court into the equation for minors found in possession of tobacco, e-cigarettes or vaping devices. City Attorney Brendon Kerns presented the proposed ordinance to the City Council this week at a study session.
Kerns said what’s being proposed in the ordinance is a tiered sentence system.
The proposed ordinance is expected to be considered by the City Council on first reading at an upcoming regularly scheduled business meeting.

So lets make this a real issue , for kids to get in trouble !! Prohibition of alcohol didn’t stop people from accessing it, they just did it in hiding, so yeah lets just open kids up to sneaking around the same way, RIDICULOUS that our city counsel doesn’t have better things to worry about !!
