In a continued effort to improve on the student experience and set a clear path to graduation, the University of Wyoming developed a program for all incoming freshmen called Saddle Up.

This program acted as a weeklong college preparation camp Aug. 14-19. Arriving the week before the start of fall classes, UW’s incoming students learned everything they needed to know about succeeding in college — and, more specifically, how to become successful students at UW.

While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, Director of Institutional Communications for UW Chad Baldwin told listeners a little about the program.

Over 1,300 students took part in the program this year. Baldwin said the week was packed full of activities, experiences and classes to prepare them for the academic year.

The program is a new requirement for all incoming freshmen. As this is the inaugural year of Saddle Up, UW officials are currently gathering feedback from the students who participated. This information will be used to refine the program to suit the needs of future incoming freshmen.
