Jeniah Lovingood Of Tongue River HS Accepts Track and Field Walk-On Offer At Northern Arizona Univ.

This year’s 2A Girls Shot Put State Champ will attempt to throw her way into an athletic scholarship.
Jeniah Lovingood of Tongue River High School has accepted a walk-on attempt offer, from Northern Arizona University, located in Flagstaff.
At the Wyoming State Meet this past weekend, she won the 2A Girls Shot Put event with a throw of 35 feet 5½ inches.
She’s also last year’s 2A Girls State Runner-Up in the same event.
In other events at this year’s state meet, Lovingood was 2nd in the 2A Girls long jump and was part of TR’s 4 by 100 meter relay team which finished 2nd.
She was already planning to attend NAU when she was contacted by the school’s track and field coach this past Sunday (May 25th), and she received the paperwork back on Tuesday.
Lovingood says has been participating in track and field since 6th grade and explains why she chose Northern Arizona.
“I first initially wanted a place that was not too small, but not too big either and Northern Arizona had my degree program and it is a beautiful place and it’s the place that I want to go to.”
She adds she plans to major in civil engineering.
