A Sheridan High School long distance track runner will continue running at the collegiate level.

Alexa Miller has signed a written offer of athletic aid to compete at George Fox University, which is an NCAA Division III Christian University, located in Newberg, Oregon, about 25 miles southwest of Portland.

Miller currently competes for the Sheridan HS Track and Field team in the 800, 1600 and 3200 meter races.

Most collegiate teams tend to reach out to recruits first, but Miller says it was the other way around for her, and explains how she knew about George Fox University.

“I reached out to them and contacted them and so the coach was very very welcoming to me and was very interested in me and so he was really kind and I really connected with him and he seems really cool and so and then I got to meet him and meet the team and it was awesome. My dad had applied to George Fox when he was looking at colleges a long time ago, so he was like, ‘You should look into this school,’ and so I looked into it, I really liked the location, I liked that it was a Christian University and so I just decided, ‘hey, I’ll just reach out,’ I’ll see what their program looks like and I just really ended up falling in love with it.”

Miller adds she intends to major in Kinesiology.
