Morning Sports: April 14, 2025

Sheridan/Johnson County HS Track and Field: Sheridan High School was well represented at a couple of big track and field meets this past weekend.
The Broncs placed 1st and the girls 3rd at the big meet in Billings, Montana.
Chance Morris went up against competition in Arcadia, California and he placed 9th in the 100 meter dash and 8th in the 200 meter dash.
Sheridan is next scheduled to compete on Thursday in Casper.
Tongue River hosted an 8-team meet back on Friday.

This coming Friday, Big Horn is scheduled to host a meet for jumpers, throwers and relay racers.
Sheridan HS Softball: The Sheridan Lady Broncs went 4-0 in games played against both Casper teams.
On Friday, the team went on the road and beat Natrona County 15-7 and 15-5.
Rayna Lollar had 5 RBI’s including a 2-run home run in the first game.
In game 2 Emerson Kelley hit 2 long balls and had 4 RBI’s for the cause.
On Saturday, the Lady Broncs swept a double-header at home vs. Kelly Walsh, 11-1 and 12-8.
Hayden Lewallen hit a 2-run shot in game 1, while Becca Oetken and Isobell Kerckaert went yard in the second game.
Sheridan is now 6-5-1 on the season and are next scheduled to play at home on Thursday vs. Worland, but the weather forecast is not looking promising.
Sheridan/Buffalo HS Soccer: Both Sheridan teams defeated Cheyenne East on Friday and then had to settle for a tie against Cheyenne Central on Saturday.
Since this coming weekend is the Easter Holiday, both the Broncs and Lady Broncs are playing both of their games earlier in the week compared to normal.
Tomorrow, Sheridan will take on Thunder Basin with the boys at home and the girls on the road.
On Thursday, the Broncs play at Campbell County, while the Lady Broncs play at home against the Lady Camels.
Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers dropped all 3 games on the road this past weekend at Rapid City, South Dakota Post 22.
Saturday’s scores were 6-4 and 6-3.
Yesterday’s score was 12-zip.
The Troopers are now 3-3 on the season and next play a double-header this coming Saturday at home vs. Lovell.
Buffalo lost both games on the road on Saturday vs. Cody.
Scores were 14-0 and 18-1.
The Bulls are next scheduled to play a double-header on Saturday at home vs. the Sheridan Jets.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The bats for the Colorado Rockies were missing in action for the most part, during their 3 losses this past weekend at San Diego.
Scores were 8-zip, 2-zip and 6-zip all in favor of the Padres.
The Rocks start a 3-game series today at the LA Dodgers.
First pitch is scheduled for 8:10pm.
Denver Nuggets Basketball/NBA Playoffs: The regular season is complete and it’s onto the playoffs for the Denver Nuggets.
The team won on Friday at home vs. Memphis 117-109 and yesterday at Houston 126-111.
With those 2 wins, Denver secured the #4 seed in the west for the playoffs and will begin a best of 7-game series beginning this coming Saturday at home against the LA Clippers.
As for the rest of the west playoff bracket, tomorrow, Wednesday and Friday will be the 4-team play-in tournament.
Tomorrow it’s Memphis at Golden State.
The winner of that game will move on to take on Houston.
On Wednesday, it’s Dallas at Sacramento.
The loser is eliminated.
The winner will play on Friday in a do or die game against the Memphis/Golden State loser, and the winner of that game will move on to challenge top seed Oklahoma City.
The other first round playoff series in the west is between Minnesota and the LA Lakers.
Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche split road games this past weekend to close out their regular season.
The team lost on Saturday at LA 6-5, and won yesterday at Anaheim 4-2.
The Avs will start the playoffs in a best of 7 series against Dallas with Games 1 and 2 on the road.
The dates and start times are still to be announced.
The rest of the playoff bracket is not ready yet, because all other teams still have 1 or 2 games remaining on their schedule, to be played sometime between today and Thursday.
