Rodeo Personnel and Animals From 2024 Sheridan WYO Rodeo To Be At NFR: Some of the people and animals that were involved in this year’s Sheridan WYO Rodeo will either be involved in this year’s National Finals Rodeo, or have been nominated for an end of the year award.
Sankey Prorodeo and Phenom Genetics will take seven animals to the 2024 WNFR, including four bareback broncs, two saddle broncs and one bull.
Among them is Black Tie, who was the 2022 World Champion Saddle Bronc, as well as last year’s and this year’s Reserve Saddle Bronc of the Year.
Will Rasmussen, has again been nominated for Rodeo Announcer of the Year.
This will be his seventh nomination as one of the best announcers in professional rodeo.
Nate Jestes, from Douglas, has received two major recognitions.
He is a finalist for Bullfighter of the Year and was named one of three bullfighters to work the NFR, alongside Meeteetse native Dusty Tuckness, and Cody Webster.
JJ Harrison was nominated for 2024 Clown/Barrelman of the Year.
Bobby Marriott was nominated for 2024 Pickup Man of the Year.
The 10-day NFR started last night and runs through Saturday, December 14th.
New Sheridan College Rodeo Coach Bobby Harris: one Cowboy who has been to the NFR many times as a competitor is now overseeing the rodeo team at Sheridan College.
Bobby Harris joined the team as an assistant coach before this year’s fall college rodeo season started, and has now moved up to the top spot.
He is an 18-time NFR qualifier as a team roping heeler and won the World Championship in 1991, and won the World Championship Average Title 3 times.
Harris has also qualified for the National Finals in Steer Roping 8 times and was inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame 2 years ago.
He is a member of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe and says he has a strong connection to North-Central Wyoming, and it’s a good place to pass on his knowledge.
The College Rodeo spring season starts in mid-March.
Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks are home tonight and tomorrow for a pair of games vs. Cody.
The puck drops at 7:30pm for both games.
These are the only home games for the month of December.
After this weekend, the team will prepare for the Showcase Event in Minnesota, take a break and then resume play on January 3rd and 4th.
Sheridan Hawks Amateur Hockey: The defending girls state champ Sheridan Lady Hawks will play their home opener tomorrow and Sunday vs. Gillette.
The puck drops at 4:30pm tomorrow and at 9:30am on Sunday.
Both games will be LIVE video streamed at sheridanmedia.com and on the Sheridan Media Facebook page.
As for the boys team, they have this weekend off from competition.
University of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowgirls play today at Missouri State.
Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30pm and you can hear the game LIVE on Fox Sports 106.3 FM.
University of Wyoming Women’s Volleyball: Wyoming was victorious last night in their first round match of the NIVC Tournament 3-1 vs. Idaho State.
The Cowgirls play again today at home vs. Utah Valley starting at 6pm.
The winner moves on to the quarter-finals.
Denver Broncos Football: This weekend is an off weekend for the Denver Broncos.
The team currently holds the final wild card spot in the AFC, by 2 games ahead of Indianapolis who is also off this week.
The 2 teams are each other’s next opponent, on Sunday, December 15th at Denver.
Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets lost last night at Cleveland 126-114.
The Nuggets next play tomorrow at Washington, starting at 5pm and on Sunday at Atlanta, starting at 4pm.
Colorado Avalanche Hockey: In the NHL, the Colorado Avalanche lost last night at Carolina 5-3.
The Avs next play tomorrow at Detroit starting at 5pm and on Sunday at New Jersey also starting at 5pm.
