The defending state champ Sheridan Lady Hawk Amateur team is starting to play catchup on their schedule with the rest of the teams in the state.
Some girls teams have already played up to 8 games, while the Lady Hawks have only played 2, but that’s about to change.
Coach Jay Charlebois says so far the team has gotten the season opening nerves out of the way, and now players are going to find out what they can really do with 8 games this month.
“Kind of hard having 7 weeks of practice before your first game. I think everybody had nerves built up and luckily we got the first 2 games out of the way, so we’ll kind of see where we go from here. It’s nice to actually get into games now. I’m starting to see more intensity in practice and more drive out of everybody. I think we’re pretty close to where we were last year. Lost a few players, but we’ve gained a few. Lot of skills got better over the summer. Lot of the newer players are catching up pretty quick, they’re learning the system that we run, so it’s tough to tell until we start playing, but from what I’m seeing in practice, it doesn’t look much different than last year.”
Sheridan hosts Gillette this coming Saturday starting at 4:15pm and on Sunday at 9:30am.
Both of those games will be LIVE video streamed at sheridanmedia.com and on the Sheridan Media Facebook Page.
