Big Horn HS Football: It’s championship weekend for Wyoming High School Football in Laramie.
First up at 12-noon, it’s undefeated Big Horn vs. Cokeville for the 2A crown.
This is the third year in a row the Rams have played in this game, and they’re trying to make it 2 out of 3.
Coach Kirk McLaughlin says the opposition is more of a running team, so if BH can lock up the Panthers on the ground, they’ll have a big advantage.
Senior Quarterback Avon Barney says even before the playoffs started, the team had a pretty good idea that they were going to have to go through 3 teams from the West in order to win a state championship.
Since the other side of the state has teams that the Rams don’t see on a regular basis, it’s made this year’s postseason run interesting.
Shane Parker will have the LIVE radio play-by-play of today’s game on AM 1410 KWYO and 106.9 FM.
Sheridan HS Football: Sheridan will be in the main event tomorrow as they play Cheyenne East in the 4A State Championship Game for the third year in a row.
The Broncs won comfortably in the regular season matchup nearly 2 months ago, largely because they were to get cash in on Thunderbird mistakes and turnovers.
Head Coach Jeff Mowry says it’s going to be tougher the second time around to get East to make those mistakes, because they’ve changed their playstyle from both the game earlier this season and from last year.
Kickoff is scheduled for 4pm.
Just like the Big Horn game, you can hear the LIVE radio play-by-play on AM 1410 KWYO and 106.9 FM.
Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks are home for a 2-game series vs. Cody.
The puck drops at 7:30pm both today and tomorrow.
It’s military appreciation weekend as the Hawks will wear their special military appreciation jerseys.
Those jerseys will be auctioned off and proceeds will be shared with the Wyo W.E.S.T. Warrior Foundation.
Sheridan Hawks Amateur Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks Amateur Boys hockey team will play at home vs. Cheyenne.
Start time is at 4pm on Saturday and at 10:30am on Sunday.
There will be a LIVE video stream of those games at sheridanmedia.com.
University of Wyoming Football: Tonight is the Border War as the Wyoming Cowboys and the Colorado State Rams will battle for the bronze boot in Fort Collins.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6 o’clock and you can hear the game LIVE on AM 1410 KWYO and 106.9 FM.
Both UW and CSU have announced that the rivalry will continue after the Rams depart the Mountain West Conference for the PAC-12.
The 2 teams will play each other next year in Laramie, because they will still be in the same conference.
The Pokes and Rams have signed an 8-year agreement to play from 2028 to 2035, with most of the games being played in mid to late September.
Currently, the non-conference schedules for both schools are filled for the 2026 and 2027 seasons, but it is possible that things could be rearranged so that the Battle for the Bronze Boot could take place during those 2 seasons.
