The Sheridan High School Football Team will make their first long road trip of the season tomorrow when they play at Cheyenne Central.

The Indians have a 1-4 record and are currently battling to try to get into the playoffs, but their record could be misleading.

All 4 of their losses this season are by 7 points or less.

Central currently boasts the 2nd best passing attack in Class 4A, and Sheridan Head Coach Jeff Mowry says this will be the first kind of different test that the Broncs will face.

“We have not seen a pass first attack this year and we’ll this and Laramie and Gillette will throw the ball a lot more and so this will be a good test for our defensive backs, our linebackers and our pass rush. We’ve got to really contain the quarterback, he’s an athletic young man that has a good arm, but will pull the ball down and run, so our defensive fronts got to do a good job with pass rush and keeping him in the pocket and then our linebackers and DBs got to do a great job of communicating, passing off routes and getting to their drops.”

Kickoff in Cheyenne is scheduled for 6pm.

Big Horn will host Moorcroft who is a team they haven’t played in awhile, because the Wolves have played 9-man football during the past few years.

Stat-wise they have the 3rd best defense in Class 2A, and given their success with wrestling, a lot of those wrestlers are on the offensive and defensive line.

Rams Head Coach Kirk McLaughlin explains what he sees in the opposition.

“I think they got a really good running back. Number 20 runs the ball really hard and he’s a good little athlete. They’ve got some lineman up front that will play physical football and you can’t take them for granted. They’re going to be physical up front. They like to take their deep shots as well, so we’ve got to be sound on the back end of the defense as well.”

Kickoff at Big Horn is scheduled for 6pm.

Tongue River’s game at Upton-Sundance has been postponed because of issues that have arisen regarding the Elk Fire.

A make-up date if there is one, is to be announced.
