Sheridan HS Football: The Sheridan High School Football team is now one with record books.
The Broncs took advantage of 4 turnovers to defeat Cheyenne East this past Friday 48-18, to win their 35th straight game and break the record for longest winning streak in Wyoming High School Football history.
It was 13-3 at halftime, and then the home team stepped it up a notch in the 2nd half.
For the game, Kelten Crow ran for 2 touchdowns, quarterback Ty Gilbertson threw 2 TD’s, one to Karson Chase, the other to Breck Reed who also had an 80 yard punt return for a score.

Sheridan is home again this coming Friday vs. Kelly Walsh.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6pm.
Although the Broncs now own the record for longest winning streak, there’s one more record to chase down.
That would be the longest unbeaten streak.
Way before modern times, football teams did not play overtime, thus a tie game was just that.
From 1953 to 1956, Worland put together a streak, where they went 34-0 with 2 ties, thus they went 36 straight games without a loss, although the Warriors did not win every game in that stretch.
Sheridan can tie that record this coming Friday with a win.
Big Horn and Tongue River HS Football: Big Horn ran their record to 3-0 with a 50-7 win at home vs. Newcastle.
The Rams next play Friday at Burns.
Tongue River picked up their first win of the season with a 14-0 win at home vs. Moorcroft.
The Eagles next play a Thursday game at Newcastle.
Sheridan County HS Volleyball: Sheridan went 4-2 this past weekend at the Casper Invitational and ended up winning the silver bracket.
On Friday, the Lady Broncs beat Natrona County, and then lost against both Laramie and Douglas.
On Saturday, they defeated Cheyenne South, Cheyenne Central and Natrona County again.
The ladies next play this coming Friday and Saturday at Cheyenne South and at Laramie.
Big Horn went 2-3 in Casper, and made it into the gold bracket.
On Friday, the Lady Rams beat Campbell County and Cheyenne Central, then lost against Evanston.
On Saturday, they lost against Kelly Walsh and to Evanston again.
BH plays 3 games this week.
On Thursday they play at Tongue River, Friday at Wright and Saturday at home vs. Moorcroft.
Tongue River won both of their matches this past weekend.
On Friday, the Lady Eagles won at Sundance 3-0 and on Saturday they won their home opener against 3A Lovell 3-1.
TR plays 3 home games this week.
On Thursday they host Big Horn, Friday they will entertain Moorcroft and on Saturday they are at home vs. Wright.
Arvada-Clearmont went 1-2 in their games this past weekend, but the 1 win was within the 1A Northeast Quadrant.
On Thursday, the Lady Panthers lost on the road against the Buffalo JV team 3-0, and lost on Friday at Kaycee 3-1, but recovered to pull off a reverse sweep at Hulett 3-2.
A-C has this week off from competition.
They were supposed to have a home game this coming Saturday vs. Ten Sleep, but TS does not have a team this season.
Wyoming High School State Golf Championships: The state championships were this weekend.
At the 4A State meet at Star Valley, the Sheridan girls came up 3 strokes short of defending their state championship and had to settle for the state runner-up trophy.
Shelbi Gardner finished 2nd in the girls individual competition.
Tongue River and Big Horn co-hosted the 2A State Meet at Kendrick Golf Course.
Sophomore Easton Lewis of the TR boys finished tied for 2nd, and was only 1 stroke behind the leader.
The Lady Eagles placed 3rd in the team standings.
Any golfer that finished in the top 10 automatically gets all-state honors.
Wyoming High School State Tennis Meet: The 3-day state meet begins this Thursday at Gillette.
Competition starts at 8:30am all 3 days.
Saturday will be championship and 3rd place matches only.
Last year the Sheridan boys placed 3rd and the girls were 5th.
Sheridan County HS Cross Country: The Sheridan VA Hospital hosted the annual Michelle Ludwig Invitational this past Saturday.
Freshman Lyla Marney of Big Horn won the girls race by about 50 seconds.
Buffalo would dominate the boys race.
Sheridan will next compete this coming Friday at Rapid City, South Dakota.
Sheridan HS Girls Swimming and Diving: Sheridan won a home dual vs. Thunder Basin back on Friday, and then split duals vs. TB and Kelly Walsh on Saturday.
This Friday and Saturday is the Sheridan Pre-Invite and Invitational at the Junior High Swimming Pool.
Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks won both games at Cody this past weekend to improve to 5-1 on the season.
Friday’s score was 5-1 and Saturday’s score was 9-1.
The Hawks are currently tied for 1st with Helena in the NA3HL’s Frontier Division and next play this Friday and Saturday at Rapid City.
University Of Wyoming Football: The Wyoming Cowboys fell to 0-4 on the season with a 44-17 loss at North Texas.
Quarterback Evan Svoboda was 11 of 23 passing for 155 yards and threw 1 touchdown to Sam Scott.
Tyler King had a 100 yard kickoff return for a score and John Hoyland added on a 30 yard field goal.
Once again UW’s running game was absent.
Not counting the kickoff return, 4 players combined for 69 yards total on 32 attempts.
The defense gave up 534 yards of total offense and North Texas was 4 for 4 on 4th down conversions.
The Brown and Gold start Mountain West Conference play this week.
Wyoming hosts Air Force, who is 1-2 on the season and had last week off.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6pm.
According to the latest stats, the Pokes have the 3rd worst offense in the country, and the Falcons have the 4th worst offense.
Denver Broncos Football: The Denver Broncos got off to a fast start and won 26-7 yesterday at Tampa Bay.
The Broncos scored on the opening drive of the game.
Then after trading punts, Brandon Jones returned an interception back to the Buccaneers’ 9 yard line, and Denver would punch it in on 4th and goal.
Will Lutz added 4 field goals as the game went on.
Quarterback Bo Nix was 25 of 36 passing for 216 yards.
He ran for Denver’s first TD and Jaleel McLaughlin ran for the other one.
The Broncos defense came up with 7 sacks and 2 turnovers.
Denver next plays this coming Sunday at the New York Jets.
Kickoff is scheduled for 11am.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost 2 of 3 games this past weekend at the LA Dodgers, in what was their final road trip of the season.
On Friday, the Rocks lost 6-4.
Charlie Blackmon, Sam Hilliard and Michael Toglia each hit solo home runs, but it was not enough.
On Saturday, Colorado won 6-3.
Ryan McMahon went yard and Blackmon had a 2-run blast for the cause.
Yesterday, the Rockies lost 6-5 as the bullpen squandered a 5-1 lead.
The team had a 5-4 lead going into the bottom of the 9th inning, but then the first 2 Dodger batters each knocked one out of the park, to walk off with the win.
The Rocks are off today and will conclude the season this week with a 6-game homestand, starting tomorrow with 3 games vs. St. Louis, followed by 3 games against the LA Dodgers.
Colorado Avalanche Pre-Season Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche pre-season starts today.
The Avs host Dallas beginning at 7pm and will play a total of 6 pre-season games.
The regular season starts on Wednesday, October 9th at Las Vegas and the home opener is on Saturday, October 12th vs. Columbus.
