Sheridan Troopers/Jets/Cavalry Legion Baseball:; The bracket for this year’s Wyoming Legion Baseball AA State Tournament is set and the Sheridan Troopers now know their first round opponent and when that first round game will be played.

The team is the #4 seed and will take on Laramie in the first game of the tournament this coming Monday at Casper, beginning at 10am.

Also on Sheridan’s side of the bracket is Cheyenne Post 6 and Rock Springs.

The Troopers and Laramie split a double-header earlier this month at Laramie, with Sheridan winning the first game, and losing the second in walk-off fashion.

Coach Austin Cowen says he is anticipating the opposition to start their ace pitcher.

One that the Troopers have faced before.

All pitchers have a pitch count limit each day and depending on how many pitches they throw in one game, that will determine how many days must pass before that pitcher can be on the mound again.

Keeping that rule in mind, Cowen says figuring out how long to keep a player on the mound is like a big game of chess.

As for the other Sheridan teams, the Jets will start the A-League State Tournament on Saturday at Powell.

The team will take on Cody at 10am.

Depending on the outcome, on Sunday the team will either take on Evanston or the Casper Drillers.

The Sheridan Cavalry will start the B State Tournament today at Torrington.

The team will take on Riverton at 1pm.

Depending on that outcome, tomorrow they’ll play either Gillette or Powell.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The bats for the Colorado Rockies showed up in a big way yesterday.

The Rocks would clobber Boston 20-7 to win the rubber game of the 3-game series.

The 20 runs ties a team record for most runs scored in a game.

Ezequiel Tovar got the scoring started with a solo home run.

Jacob Stallings hit a 3-run homer, Ryan McMahon had a 2-run shot, and Brenton Doyle hit his first career grand slam.

Colorado is off today, and starting tomorrow the team will start a 10-game road trip, with 4 games at San Francisco, followed by 3 games at the LA Angels, and 3 at San Diego.
