Sheridan WYO Rodeo: Two performances down and 2 to go at this year’s Sheridan WYO Rodeo.

Last night in the bareback riding, R.C. Landingham of California was one of 2 cowboys who scored 80 points or higher.

His 88 point ride was tops for the night.

In the Steer Wrestling, Justin Shaffer of Texas was the only one faster than 5 seconds, as he threw one down in 4.4.

For the Steer Ropers, Seth Schafer of Texas was the first one out and got it done in 11.2 seconds and that time would hold for the evening.

Two ladies tied for 1st last night in the Breakaway Roping.

Bradi Good of Texas and Canadian Kendal Pierson both threw their lassos in 3.6 seconds.

Saddle Bronc Riding, Ryder Sanford of Louisiana got a score of 86 and won by ½ point last night. 

In Team Roping, two teams turned in a time of 5.8 seconds in the field.

Tie-Down Roping, 2 cowboys beat the 10 second clock, and Zack Jongbloed of Louisiana was a little bit faster at 9.4 seconds.

In Barrel Racing, 2 one-hundredths of a second separated first from third during last night’s performance.

BryAnna Haluptzok of Minnesota was slightly quicker with a time of 17.56 seconds.

Finally in Bull Riding, no one lasted 8 seconds last night.

The third performance is tonight starting at 7 o’clock.


High School National Finals Rodeo: The High School National Finals Rodeo starts this coming Sunday in Rock Springs.

Abigail Olson of Sheridan will compete in both pole bending and barrel racing.

Other Sheridan Competitors include Kolby Smith in Bull Riding.

Buffalo competitors Colson Myers made it in the steer wrestling, Cam Johnson in the team roping, Kamry Davis in barrel racing, Bleu Butler in breakaway roping and Karly Peterson in girls cutting.

Cooper Justus of Parkman will compete in the reined cow horse event, and Wyatt Holland of Clearmont in both trap shooting and light rifle.

Competition at the High School NFR runs all next week through Saturday.


Sheridan Troopers Baseball: Yesterday the Sheridan Troopers split a home conference double-header against the Cheyenne Hawks.

In the first game, Avon Barney pitched a complete game 5-innings.

He also had 3 RBI’s, as did Cael Hamrick and Blaine Phillps, as Sheridan would apply the mercy rule and win 14-2.

In the second game, the Troopers bats were a no show, the team wasted a 10 strikeout effort by Frankie Maestri, and the final score was a 3-zip loss.

The team has another home conference double-header tomorrow as they take on Rock Springs starting at 2pm.


Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost yesterday at Cincinnati 8-1 and ended up losing 3 out of 4 games in the series.

Michael Toglia hit a solo home run, which ended up being 1 of only 3 hits in the game for the Rocks.

Today the team starts a 3-game series at the New York Mets.

First pitch is scheduled for 5:10pm.

After this weekend, Colorado is off for the All-Star break.
