High School Sports Winter Season: We are a little more than one week out from the start of competition for the high school winter sports season.
Last season the Sheridan Bronc boys basketball team went 13-8, but missed out on the state tournament for the first time since 2016.
Head Coach Jeff Martini says he’s a got a good crop of players at all grade levels this year, which could make for a well balanced team.
The first game for the Broncs and Lady Broncs is a week from this Thursday at the Riverton Invitational.

The Sheridan Bronc wrestlers start their season with a home dual next week Thursday vs. Worland, and the boys swim team starts next week Friday at Gillette.
Wyoming Cowboy Football: The Wyoming Cowboys ended the regular season on a good note with a 42-6 road win against Nevada to finish with a record of 8-4.
Quarterback Andrew Peasley was 12 of 18 passing for 165 yards.
He threw for 2 touchdowns and ran for 2 himself.
The Pokes had that stretch where they lost 3 of 4, against Air Force, Boise State and UNLV, but Peasley credits the team with regrouping and not quitting on the season.
Hopefully UW will have some kind of bowl game announcement this coming Sunday.
Yesterday, Wyatt Ekeler was named as the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
In the game against Nevada, he had 5 tackles, including 1 ½ tackles for a loss as well as a 38 yard pick 6, breaking 5 tackles in the process.
Wyoming Cowgirl/Cowboy Basketball: The Wyoming Cowgirls are back on the court this evening at home vs. BYU.
Tip off is scheduled for 6:30pm.
The Wyoming Cowboys play on Friday at the University of Portland.
University of Wyoming Cowgirl Volleyball: For the first time since 2019, the Cowgirl volleyball team will play in the post-season.
They will play in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship, which is kind of like the NIT of volleyball.
UW will head to Greeley, Colorado, to play the University of South Dakota, this Thursday at 3pm.
If they win they will play in the second round on Saturday vs. the winner of Valparaiso and Northern Colorado.
The Cowgirls finished the 2023 regular season with a record of 20-9 and a 9-9 record in the Mountain West Conference, which put them in a tie for 7th place, but only the top 6 were invited to the conference tournament.
Denver Broncos Football: The Denver Broncos play this Sunday at Houston.
Kickoff is scheduled for 11am.
Denver and Houston are both tied with Indianapolis for the final wild card spot in the AFC.
Including this week, the Broncos have 6 games remaining on the schedule, with 4 of those 6 on the road.
Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets have won 2 straight after dropping 4 of the previous 5.
On Sunday, the defending NBA champs won at home vs. San Antonio 132-120, and then last night they won at the LA Clippers 113-104.
Denver’s next scheduled game is tomorrow at home vs. Houston.
Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won at home last night vs. Tampa Bay 4-1.
The team is 15-6 on the season and sit in 1st place in the Central Division.
The next scheduled game is this coming Thursday at Arizona.
Sheridan Hawks Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks are home again this weekend as they host Rapid City.
The puck drops at 7:30pm on both Friday and Saturday.
