One Sheridan college Cowboy is already assured of going to the College National Finals Rodeo, that will be held in June in Casper.
With one rodeo to go in the 2022-2023 Central Rocky Mountain Region, Clancy Glenn has locked up first place in the Saddle Bronc riding event.
Cowboys and Cowgirls earn points based on where they finish at each rodeo and the top 3 in each event at the end of the regular season qualify for the CNFR.
Glenn got on a hot streak by winning four rodeos in a row late last year and early this year, thus he has left the competition in the dust and has nothing to lose this weekend at the UW rodeo event in Laramie.
He says he credits his hot streak to losing something of his own thanks to coach Marc Gilkerson.
“I think it started with some friendly bets with Marc. I ended up having to lose a bet, got a haircut and that kind of made think more about my hair than I was riding and it kind of cleared my head I think and stuff started clicking and I just kept it going.”
Elsewhere in the rodeo standings Wyatt Phelps is 4th place overall in the Bull Riding, and is 15 points out of third, this weekend is his last chance to qualify for the CNFR.
