A Sheridan High School swimmer will soon try to make a splash at the collegiate level.
Lilly Mountain has signed her letter of intent (LOI), to compete on the women’s swimming team at Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
During the Wyoming High School State Meet this past November, she competed for the Lady Broncs in the 50 yard and 100 yard freestyle races, and was part of both the 200 and 400 yard freestyle relay teams.
Mountain says she been hooked on competing in the pool for some time and has some advice for those thinking about getting into the sport.
“I started swimming about 3rd or 4th grade and my mom made me go to swim practice and I just have been doing it ever since. I’m really hungry to get what it takes to win, not just being hungry to win. Don’t be afraid to jump in head first because it’ll change your life and I just can’t seem to break up with swimming, so we’re going to give it a shot.”
Mountain adds she plans to major in business.
Northern State University is an NCAA Division 2 school that competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
