State Girls Wrestling and 1A – 2A Regional Basketball start Today / Nordic Skiing State Starts in Jackson Friday

BRONC / LADY BRONC NORDIC SKIING – Tomorrow and Saturday is the state Nordic ski meet in Jackson, and while this may not be the first time that Sheridan high school skiers have competed at this meet, it will be the first time under the Sheridan Bronc banner.

This winter is the first time that Sheridan has had a varsity Nordic ski team, in the past, Sheridan had skiers, but because there was no official team, they competed as a part of the team out of either Laramie or Cody.

The team does not yet have an official course, and were the only team this season that did not host a meet as for where Sheridan practices Sophomore Justin McDowell says the team has received some help from some ski fans in the area.

Freshman Kayley Alicke says since this is the first year for the team, the best thing for each skier to do is set some reasonable goals.

As far as the competition at the state meet goes, the Jackson boys have won the last four state titles and 17 of the last 19, while the Jackson girls are attempting to 12-peat as state champs.

STATE WRESTLING – The girls all class Wyoming state wrestling championships get underway today in Casper, the boys state tournament will start tomorrow morning.

BRONC / LADY BRONC HOOPS – The Sheridan high school basketball teams close out the regular season tomorrow night with road games at Natrona county game times are 6:00 and 7:30 and you can hear them on KWYO 14-10 AM and 106.9 FM.

REGIONAL HOOPS – 1A and 2A regional basketball tournaments start today the 2A tournament is being played in Sundance.

In the girls bracket Big Horn opens with Lingle-Fort Laramie and the Tongue River Lady Eagles take on Burns, in the boys bracket the Rams play Niobrara county and the Eagles face Burns.

The Arvada / Clearmont Lady Panthers open their regional in Buffalo today against Rock River.

JUNIOR HAWKS – The Sheridan Junior Hawks host two games this weekend with the Yellowstone Quake game times are 7:30 tomorrow and Saturday night.
