Weekend Local Sports Wrap up

CROSS COUNTRY – The high school cross country season wrapped up saturday with the the wyoming state cross country championships the Sheridan Lady Broncs finished 3rd and the Broncs were 5th, Austin Akers, Landrum Wiley and Kayley Alicke earned all state honors for top ten finishes.

Grace Perkins all-stated for the Tongue River Lady Eagles with a 7th place finish in the 2-A race, the Lady Eagles finished 2nd.

Al Spotted led the way for the Eagles with a 5th place finish leading the Eagles to a third place finish and Ethan Alliot was 8th leading Big H to a 4th place finish.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL – Sheridan, Big Horn and Tongue River were all winners Friday in the regular season finale for all three and now they get ready to host quarter final playoff games Friday.

The Broncs beat Campbell county 48-6 to earn an unbeaten regular season, Head coach Jeff Mowry.

And Mowry says going 9-0 is a great finish for this year’s squad.

Now it’s onto the post season and this is what they play for.

The Rams knocked off Burns 56-13 and the Eagles beat Wheatland 41-0 both teams host opening round playoff games Friday.

Here is the football schedule on Friday the Rams host Mountain View kickoff is at 1:00, the Eagles host Cokeville they kickoff at 4:00 and the Broncs host Laramie kickoff at 6:00.

COWBOY FOOTBALL – The Wyoming football Cowboys came away with a 28-14 win over Utah state, this week they are on the road at Hawaii kickoff Saturday night will be at 10:00.

BRONCO FOOTBALL – The Denver Broncos fell at home to the New York jets 16-9 and fall to 2-5 on the season, this week they play in London against Jacksonville game time is at 7:30 am.

SWIMMING / DIVING – The Lady Bronc swimmers and divers stared their post season with a 3rd place finish at their conference meet, complete results can be seen right now on the sports page at sheridanmedia.com.

VOLLEYBALL – The Sheridan Lady Broncs dropped both weekend matches to Campbell county and Thunder Basin, now it’s onto the regional tournament in Cheyenne the Lady Broncs open Friday against Laramie.

The Big Horn Lady Rams swept victories from Sundance and Greybull to wrap up their regular season they open their regional tournament Friday in Burns they will play Lusk in the opening round.

The Tongue River Lady Eagles ended the regular season with a home win over Rocky Mountain they will be in Burns as well for the regional tournament, they open Friday taking on the host team.

JUNIOR HOCKEY – The Sheridan Junior Hawks swept road games in Bozeman, Montana winning 6-3 and 7-2, this week the Hawks are home against Helena, Montana game times Friday and Saturday night is 7:30.
