William David McIntyre was born on June 18, 1944 in Evansville, Indiana to Thorpe and Julia McIntyre.  His early childhood in Saint Francisville, Illinois was spent playing in and around the Wabash River.  Bill attended schools in Illinois and Missouri.  He graduated from Northwest High School in House Springs, Missouri with the class of 1962.  After high school Bill moved to Evansville, Indiana where he went to work at Kent Plastics for eight years.  He went out to Wyoming hunting with his dad a couple times and decided that Wyoming was where he wanted to live.  In 1972 he moved to Casper and went to work in the Uranium Fields as a logger.  He later worked for Amoco in the Salt Creek Oilfield as a pumper.  He was married on February 23, 1974 in Casper to Dixie Bowdish and they made their home in Casper. While living in Casper they bought a ranch with Dixie’s parents East of Kaycee where they spent most of their time and where they raised their three sons.  Bill retired from the oilfields in 2009 and in December of 2012 they sold the ranch and moved into Kaycee where they lived until his death.

Bill enjoyed taking trips with his family, backpacking with his sons, fishing and reading.  He was a volunteer and board member at the Hoofprints of the Past Museum; a board member at the Johnson County Library; a volunteer KATS Bus Driver in Kaycee and an active member of the Democratic Party.  Bill loved his family and enjoyed doing things for others.  He will be greatly missed.  He is survived by his wife Dixie McIntyre of Kaycee; two sons, Bill and Travis McIntyre both of Kaycee; one brother Dan McIntyre of New Haven, Missouri and one granddaughter Haley.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Kyle McIntyre and two brothers, Jim and Wilson McIntyre.

Bill was a great dad to Travis, Kyle, and Bill and a loving husband to Dixie. He was also one of the pillars of the McIntyre clan. Bill was a man of great intellect and had a wonderfully dry sense of humor. He was generous as well. The loss of Bill came as a shock and the family won’t be the same without him. We will miss you Bill.
