“I had to live second by second those first weeks, then it became minute by minute, hour by hour, and now I can live day to day.” – Calli Aust, in a text message to my little sister, when describing a traumatic loss Calli experienced. When I first met Calli, I was intimidated by her. She knew exactly who she was and why she was here, and that sort of confidence is rare. It reveals our own insecurities. It is like salt – it makes us thirsty for more. What did Calli have? She had a deep understanding of who God is. A deep, beautiful relationship with her Savior. And because Calli knew who she was, she had the capacity to love deeply, intentionally, and fiercely. Calli’s impact in this world will live past June 15th.

Calli, you were beautiful just like your mom. Tri, Julie and family there are no words I can say to ease the pain you’re going through. Only our Savior knows this kind of heart break and He is holding you all so very close right now. It hurts so bad because Calli is loved so much. My prayers are with you.
