Gordon Christensen

Funeral services for Gordon Christensen, 88 year old Buffalo resident who passed away Wednesday at the Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo, will be held Tuesday, March 30^th at 10:00 a.m. at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with Pastor William Dunlap officiating. Visitation will be held from the funeral home chapel on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.  Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside services to follow the funeral. Donations in Gordon’s memory may be made to Meals on Wheels in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo.  The funeral will be livestreamed on www.harnessfuneralhome.com and online condolences may be made at the funeral home website.

Gordon Hans Christensen was born on January 27, 1933 in Wheatland, Wyoming to Christian and Lelia Harwood Christensen. Gordon had three brothers and one sister. Gordon’s childhood was spent living with his family on a ranch eight miles west of Wheatland.    Gordon attended grades one through four in a rural school. He then attended fifth through eighth grades in the Wheatland elementary and middle school.  He finished his eighth grade year in 1948 and went to work to help support the family. He was married in 1952 to Ellen Otteman and they had three sons and one daughter. By 1958 Gordon was working as a carpenter, a trade that he continued to love his entire life. Ellen and Gordon were divorced in 1971 and in 1972 he met Linda Gibbs and in October of that year they were married at Linda’s father’s home on the George Gibbs Ranch at Kaycee, Wyoming.  In 1973 they bought a small piece of land near Keyhole Reservoir where they built a log cabin.  Following Gordon’s construction work they moved around Wyoming and neighboring states. In 1980 they moved to their log cabin at Pine Haven where Gordon built a three bedroom house. It was at this time that God changed their lives.  There was a small community church near by and the two of them started going to church. The preacher preached a gentle but beckoning call to repent and Gordon responded.  He then found a new joy that he had never known.  Gordon and Linda retired in 1995 and moved to Buffalo, Wyoming where they continued to live until his death.  He had been a resident of the Amie Holt Care Center for the past two years.

Gordon enjoyed listening to gospel music and eat sweets, but his passion was “just being with Linda and worshipping the Lord”.   Gordon is survived by his wife Linda Christensen of Buffalo; three sons, Andrew and Dean Christensen both of Orlando, Florida and Rex Christensen of Cheyenne, Wyoming; one daughter Peggy Smith of Tyler Texas; one sister Agnes Miller of Lakewood, Colorado and four grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Art, Herb, and Fred Christensen and Herald who was killed in WWII.
