Funeral services and celebration of the life of Milt Timar, 77 year old long time Buffalo resident who passed away quietly at his home in Buffalo, surrounded by family, will be held Monday, March 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Don Paulson officiating.  Visitation will be held from the funeral home chapel on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery with graveside services to follow the funeral. Donations in Milt’s memory may be made to the Suzie Bowling Lawrence Hospice in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo. Online condolences may be made at www.harnessfuneralhome.com  The funeral will be livestreamed on Monday from the funeral home website.

Milton Edward Timar was born on May 23, 1943 in Buffalo to Louis and Mary Timar. He grew up and went to Buffalo schools and graduated from Johnson County High School with the class of 1961. During the summers when he was in high school he worked as a wrangler at the HF Bar Ranch and rode bareback broncs and roped in the Johnson County Fair. After high school he went to barber school in Denver and returned to Buffalo where he worked at the Occidental Barber Shop.  He was married on November 23, 1962 in Buffalo to Sharon Keyes and they made their home in Buffalo where Milt continued as a barber.  In the early 1970’s Milt went to work for Knepper Electric as a Journeyman Electrician. He worked at Knepper Electric until it closed and he then went to work in the Oil Fields as a pumper. After 20 years in the oil field he took a job with the Johnson County Health Care Center in their maintenance department. Milt retired in 2005 and he and Sharon continued living in Buffalo until his death.

Milt loved spending time in the mountains, hunting, fishing and camping.  He especially enjoyed bugling elk.  He enjoyed leather work and made belts, chaps and holsters for the entire family.  He was a member of the Buffalo Jaycees and the local chapter president, as well as serving a term as the Regional Vice President. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon Timar of Buffalo; one son John Timar and his wife Lisa of Washington, North Carolina; one daughter Michelle Filbert and her husband Kevin of Buffalo; two sisters, Jane Streeter and her husband Elgin of Carlin, Nevada and Betty Carlock of Buffalo; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and infant sister; and two brothers, Louie and Jim Timar.
