Margaret Charbonnier

Funeral services for Margo Charbonnier, a 95-year-old Buffalo resident who passed away Saturday morning at the Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo, will be held Saturday, November 14th at 10:00 a.m. at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with Pastor Paul Gilbert officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home chapel on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A private family Interment will be near her family in St. Michael’s Cemetery in East Elmhurst, New York. Donations in Margo’s memory may be made to Grace Fellowship Church in Buffalo, in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Adams in Buffalo. Margaret Christie Charbonnier was born on November 3, 1925, in Astoria, New York to Etienne and Jean Charbonnier. She grew up, went to school, and graduated from high school in New York City. A New Yorker for most of her life and proud of it, she was feisty, funny, and had a sharp mind till the end. She lived with her family in Astoria Queens, New York. She did clerical work for many years, had a driver’s license, enjoyed traveling in Europe, especially the British Iles and Italy where her family had roots. She loved books, sewing, crafts of all kinds, and visiting with family and friends. In 2013 she and her Jamaican caregiver, Beryl Fowler moved to Buffalo to be near family. Both were warmly received into the community and by St. Luke’s Lutheran and Grace Fellowship Churches. Margo attended two church services every week for as long as she was able. Her last months were spent at Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo where she was kept busy with activities and trips. She was loved by the wonderful people at Amie Holt where she had excellent care and died peacefully. Her family is grateful to the town of Buffalo for embracing both her and Beryl. She is survived by cousins, Richard Olsen and his wife Sharon of Buffalo and their family and Robert Olsen of New York City. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Jeanette.
