Ellen Polito, 95, peacefully returned to her Lord on October 2, 2020, at Westview Health Care Center where she has resided for the past 2 years.

Ellen received the gift of life on November 27, 1924, in Kleenburn, WY to Bruno and Elizabeth Polito.  In 1927 the family moved to Decker, MT where they homesteaded.  Upon selling the ranch, the family moved to Sheridan in 1940.  During her teen years, Ellen began working for Superior Laundry until her retirement in 1986.

Ellen was quite proficient at embroidery work, was self-taught at sewing and made most of her outfits.  She loved for summer to arrive so she could work in her flowerbeds and garden.  Her greatest joy was being able to spend time with her great-great nieces and nephews.  Ellen touched people’s lives sometimes directly, sometimes indirectly, sometimes they knew it, and sometimes they did not.  Ellen was proceeded in death by her parents, 4 sisters; Josephine Polito, Rose Baker, Mary Bach, and Lois Lewis.  She is survived by nieces; Janus Powell (Al), Ranchester, Toad Neden, Hardin, Dutch Purcell (Joe), Hardin, Pokey Schindler (Jeff), Hardin and nephew Marty Bach (Karen), Sheridan; 13 great-nieces and nephews and 26 great-great nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Westview for all the love and care they extended to Ellen.  She loved you.

Champion Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Name Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at 10:00 with Father Sebastian officiating.  Graveside services to follow at Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Name School, 121 S. Connor St., Sheridan, WY 82801 or The Hub on Smith, 211 Smith St., Sheridan, WY 82801.
