Charlotte Yvonne Cornell passed away on June 3, 2024, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by and in the blessed care of her family until the moment she was called home.

She was born Charlotte Yvonne Hovey to Alonzo Hovey and Joyce Lawler Hovey Neal on July 10, 1961, in Cody, WY. Growing up between Meeteetse and Dayton, WY, Charlotte then graduated from Tongue River High School in 1979. There she met her first husband, Brett Tippets, and the two were married on August 3, 1979. Charlotte then blessed him with two daughters: Lacy Jo born on November 27, 1982, and Nicole Marie on September 28, 1985. After their divorce on January 31, 1990, they were remarried on July 3, 1991, and welcomed their son, Tanner Lewis, the year after, on September 17, 1992. They then divorced a second time on November 4, 1997.

She later married her loving husband Royce Cornell on June 27, 1998, and they boasted a happy marriage until her very last day, blending their families and building their home in Dayton together. They enjoyed many vacations together, often visiting Wisconsin, and were able to take a special trip to Florida with their friends, Randy and Jenny, where Charlotte was able to see dolphins and manatees- an experience that she treasured.

Charlotte was notoriously caring and loving, was a good friend to many, and loved her family deeply. She adored her grandchildren above all, cherishing every moment she was able to spend with them.

Charlotte was absolutely generous- her home had an open-door policy and always came with a meal ticket. Despite being humble in her abilities, she was an excellent cook, a talented green thumb, and a mother which her kids could also call their best friend.

She was employed in various positions throughout her life, notably as a convenience store clerk at both The Corner Grocery and The Buckhorn Grocery & Travel Plaza, as well as caring for children at The Child’s Place Daycare in Ranchester. It was while working at the daycare, that Charlotte flew in a plane for the first time & only time in her life- an experience she held dear to her heart.

Despite being reserved in demeanor, Charlotte’s love and support was loud. She kept up with all of her extended family’s life events- a fact proven by her extensive and treasured collection of family photos, event announcements, and memorabilia.

Beloved and missed by many, Charlotte lives on in her vast legacy: her beautiful family.

Charlotte is preceded in death by her father, Alonzo Hovey.

Charlotte is survived by her husband Royce Cornell of Dayton, WY; daughter Brandy Austin & her husband of Lancaster, WI and their son Owen and daughter Lizzy; son Troy Cornell of Dubuque, IA, and his children Tristan, Schroder, Khalie, Alexie, Brittny, Teagan, and Trenton Cornell; son Kelly Cornell of Boscobel, IA & his sons Chris (Tabitha) and Tyler (Chelsey) Cornell; daughter Lacy (Dustin) Danielson of Cody, WY and their children Madison and Jackson Danielson; daughter Nicole (Alex) Garcia of Breaux Bridge, LA and their children Tatum Tippets-Waits, Dusty, Cade & Remi Garcia; son Tanner (Lorianne) Tippets of Ranchester, WY and their daughters Blakely and Ember Tippets; as well as her mother Joyce Lawler Hovey Neal of Sheridan, WY; sister Thea (John) Szymaniak of Ranchester, WY, sister Sharon Hovey of Tetonia, ID, and brother Lon (Paula) Hovey of Ranchester, WY; as well as many other family members, including numerous great grandchildren in Wisconsin, that she loved dearly.

A celebration of life will be on Saturday, June 15th, 2024 at 1:00PM at the Dayton Community Hall with Charlotte’s favorite meal with dessert.
