Sheridan and Johnson County January 2022 Unemployment Numbers Increase

Unemployment numbers decreased in Wyoming from December 2021 to January 2022, but not in the north-central part of the state.
The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services says state-wide seasonally adjusted unemployment numbers dropped from 4.0% in December 2021 to 3.8% in January 2022.
The January numbers are also down from 5.1% compared to January 2021.
However, the December to January trend was the opposite in Sheridan and Johnson counties.
Sheridan Counties’ numbers were up from 3.0% in December to 3.8% in January, while Johnson County went up from 3.2% to 4.1%.
Compared to January 2021, those new numbers are down from 5.4% and 5.5% respectively.
The Department of Workforce Services says the December to January increase is normal for that time of year, because the holiday shopping season ended, and colder weather set in.
The U.S. seasonally adjusted unemployment numbers for January 2022 is at 4.0%.
That’s up from 3.9% in December 2021, but down from 6.4% in January 2021.
