Road & Bridge Reports Survey of Crazy Woman Bridge

Johnson County Road & Bridge Supervisor Scott Pehringer spoke to the county commission, reporting that the US Forest Service has been surveying the Crazy Woman Canyon Road bridge, preparing for the road reconstruction project, which is slated to begin in 2023.
The $3.4 million project, through the Federal Lands Access Program, or FLAP, was explained further by Pehringer at an earlier meeting.
Pehringer also said road & bridge is involved in a large cleanup project a the airport to accommodate gravel and bentonite storage.
Also discussed was the grazing lease on lands owned by the county near the airport.
Commissioner Bob Perry asked if when the contract is awarded and the new lessee should require fencing around the property for the animals, would the county be responsible for the cost of building the fence.
County Attorney Tucker Ruby told the commissioners they can set parameters in the contract on what the land can be used for and how.
It was also discovered the contract shows the land at 180 acres, when the actual size is 347 acres, so that will be corrected in the new contract.
