Wyoming soon may no longer foot the bill, if state or local law enforcement is called on to aid in certain federal situations involving guns.

Earlier this week, Senate File 102, which is also known as the Second Amendment Protection Act, passed 3rd reading in the Senate and is now heading to the House for discussion.

The file that was sponsored by Republican State Senator Larry Hicks out of Baggs, says the state and all political subdivisions would be prohibited from using any personnel, any funds appropriated by the state legislature, or any other source of funds that originated within the state, to enforce, administer, or cooperate with any unconstitutional act, law, treaty, executive order, or rule of regulation of the US Government, that infringes on or impedes the free exercise of second amendments rights of US citizens.

What this means is that federal funding must be used in these situations, in order to receive state and local assistance.

Any public servant who knowingly violates the act will be subject to misdemeanor penalties.

If passed the act would go into effect on July 1st.

Hicks is also the Senate Vice-President.
