The Sheridan County Sheriff Allen Thompson is recommending that residents ensure their tax preparation paperwork is safely secured.
While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, the Sheridan County Sheriff told listeners a few tips to keep themselves safe this tax season. Thompson informed residents that scammers will use every method they can to contact residents in search of personal information including traditional mail services.
He also reminded people to store their personal financial information along with any tax returns in a safe secure location.
Should residents receive any paperwork regarding tax information in the mail that appears to be questionable, notify the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office at 672-3455 or take the paperwork into the office located in Sheridan at 54 West 13th St.
